“My muse is the stone”
Christina Bertsos is a self-taught sculptor best known for her fluid works in stone. Influenced by her love of classic Greek figurative sculpture and modern abstract expressionism, she uses this ancient medium to explore contemplative themes such as the evolution of consciousness and the essence of Beauty as reflected in the female form. Her sculpture, Aphrodite Rising (2021) is one such example. She calls herself an artist and also an artisan, hand crafting each of her one-of-a-kind pieces, from table top to monumental, with uncompromising attention to detail. She was invited to hold her first solo exhibition in 2019 and continues to exhibit her award-winning work locally, nationally and internationally.
