TATIANA BACCARI – (she/they) is a generative director making new plays, musicals and radical adaptations of classics. She is committed to anti-racist, accessible and inclusive spaces. Tatiana is currently a John Wells Directing Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University, where she is pursuing an MFA in Theatre and Film Directing (Class of 2025). As Founding Artistic Director of NYC-based producing company Experimental Bitch, Tatiana develops contemporary new performance and community programs with artists/venues such as Nia O. Witherspoon, Diana Oh, Anya Pearson, HERE Arts Center, Bushwick Starr and JACK, among others. Tatiana was a 2020-21 Creative Pinellas Emerging Artist where she directed a site-specific production of Everybody by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. They were in the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation’s Observership Class from 2019-2021, where they assisted Pirronne Yousefzadeh (Vietgone by Qui Nguyen, Geva Theatre). Recent directing
credits include My Body No Choice (Arena Stage/CMU), Animals Out of Paper by Rajiv Joseph (Jobsite Theater/Straz Center) and Tanya’s Lit Clit (Open Jar Studios/Park Ave Armory), a new musical they are developing with playwright, Emma Goldman-Sherman, about women’s chronic illness. Tatiana was recently commissioned to write a 10-minute play, FIVE WISHES, for CMU’s Center for Arts and Society in response to the symposium: Public Health. Private Spaces.
