1:30-2:20 pm – Jon Ditty
Hip Hop

“I’ll be performing a mix of work from my current catalog – and perhaps a couple of unreleased tunes.”

. . .
“The thematics of my writing differs from song to song, but generally is rooted in either social commentary, political activism or introspective analysis. My Live Solo Show is definitely different than what most expect out of a Rapper, these days — involving some musical interaction on both keys and sampler, as well as additional shenanigans I’ll leave to be revealed.”

3-3:15 pm – Alex/ander Jones
Dance

“My performance for the Arts Annual is actually the performance of process.

“My current research, coming out of graduate studies, is rooted in experimentation with world building. Is it possible to create and display a world instantly? What is the process of crafting the unseen and is it interesting to witness in real time?”

“For the first section of this experimental solo, I have given myself a set movement vocabulary to work within and five progression prompts to complete within a time limit. The second section centers around exploration of the world that is (possibly successfully) created.

“How do i move inside the thing i create? Am I a part of the world? Or an alien to it?”

3:30-4 pm – Tom Sivak
Musical Theatre

We’ll be performing 5 songs from Sunshine City the Musical. The cast includes Colleen Cherry, Regan McLellan, Elizabeth Gelman and Louis F. Fiol, accompanied by the composer, me. There will be a short narrative, linking the songs while briefly telling the story.”
. . .

. . .
Sunshine City the Musical is an old-fashioned show, set in St Petersburg in the Roaring Twenties. The underlying story reveals how St Petersburg became a tourist mecca, because it wasn’t always that way.

“Using actual publicity stunts from the era, our hero, Jack, brings St Pete out of the tourist drought created by the great hurricane of 1926. Coining the moniker, ‘Sunshine City,’ Jack sells sunshine to the frozen north. The finale of the show is a hymn to optimism – ‘Sunshine Is A State of Mind.’

“Audiences will learn a little about St. Pete and see a touching love story – complete with singing alligators and an imaginary dog coming to the rescue! Anything’s possible when Sunshine Is A State of Mind!”

5-8 pm Live Light Painting by Linda Costa

“It may be hard to believe that the magic in my images are created in complete darkness. That all of the fantastic effects in these portraits were inspired by the exchange between myself and that client. To believe that each electrifying streak of light was made by movements I made while painting with light , which is then captured by long exposure photography, not manipulated via photoshop. When you try light painting for yourself you will be immersed in the most extraordinary photographic magic trick, one that results in a truly unique experience. . . ”
