projectALCHEMY is a nonprofit contemporary dance company based in St. Petersburg, Florida, and currently the city’s only contemporary dance company composed of working and established dance artists. Now entering its seventh year, the company creates immersive movement experiences where dance intersects with visual art, sound, storytelling, ritual, design, and community practice.
Rooted in the values of Create, Collaborate, and Transform, projectALCHEMY produces artist-driven performances, accessible movement classes, and professional development opportunities that connect artists and audiences through shared experience. Led by founder and Artistic Director Alexander Jones, the company creates work that is physically grounded, emotionally resonant, and deeply collaborative.
Performances range from theater-based productions to site-responsive works throughout the city, often inviting audiences into environments that blur the line between witnessing and participation. projectALCHEMY has developed partnerships with organizations including The Studio@620, The Dalí Museum, The Palladium at St. Petersburg College, and Ruth Eckerd Hall. Through immersive performances, mentorship initiatives, and community-centered programming, the company continues to help shape a thriving and accessible dance ecosystem within Pinellas County.
