2023 Artist Laureate
Mikhail is a new media artist interested in designing interactive and generative systems that create distinct visual, sonic or sculptural experiences based on speculative ecological narratives. His practice consists of writing code and building electro-mechanical devices that seek to translate the forces and phenomena embedded in the world around us into poetic expressions that invite discovery, wonder or play. His works has been exhibited at de Young Museum, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, V&A Museum, Renwick Gallery, deCordova, Ringling Museum, Miraikan – National Museum of Emerging Science
and Innovation, Biomuseo, LEXUS INTERSECT-TOKYO, Pyongyang Winter Olympics, Currents New Media Festival, Ars Electronica, Meow Wolf among others.
