Born in 1949 in south Florida, Lynn Foskett received her education in the South, Midwest, and Northeast, including studying abroad in Europe. Acquiring a strong visual arts background in her early college career, with a focus in fashion illustration, she earned her BFA degree in painting from Northern Illinois University. Returning to Florida in 2000, Foskett joined the Professional Association of Visual Artists (PAVA) and Florida Artists Group (FLAG). Her work has been on display in all-Florida museum exhibitions. Recently, she was Artist-in-Residence for Pinellas Community Foundation’s Act II: Aging in Place and upcoming Gallery221@HCC exhibition 130 Years: Lynn Foskett, Leslie Neumann, and Roberta Schofield.
While traditional approaches continue to inform her work, experimentation with different mediums and materials is central to Foskett’s practice. These include sewn and stuffed canvas forms, oil, and cold wax medium; digital drawing; handmade books; shaped and layered substrates; and found objects, to name a few. Foskett’s work continues to grow through exploration and participation in programs offered by Creative Pinellas, Morean Arts Center (recently juried into the BIG INK woodblock print workshop), workshops led by established artists: photographer Anna Tomczak, printmaker Linda Berghoff, and mixed-media artist Elena De La Ville.
