Art Therapist and Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist

Lee Cohen is a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist for individuals with an MPS (Masters in Professional Studies) in art therapy and creativity development. She is a registered art therapist in practice pursuing her Ph.D. in Expressive Therapies at Lesley University. Lee was a professional artist before becoming an art therapist. Lee used the arts to teach and support persons with unique needs for self-expression after she experienced the inner healing power of the arts. Her desire to give back to her community led her to pursue a career as an art therapist. Lee has been integrating the arts for over 25 years. She was an invited speaker about the relevance of art in spirituality, identity, trauma, and youth, as well as led workshops on the topic. She has worked with various populations as a clinician, including recovering addicts and incarcerated adolescents. Lee presented a microdocumentary on Art Therapy in the DJJ, a short film on her work with resident adolescents in the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, during the American Art Therapy Association’s 50th anniversary in 2019.
