Clearwater Sister Cities is a cultural nonprofit dedicated to building international friendship and cultural understanding through arts programming, cultural exchange, and educational experiences.
Established in 1997, the organization was created to support Clearwater’s longstanding Sister City relationship with Nagano, Japan, which began in 1959 and gained international visibility during the 1998 Winter Olympics. Today, CSC also supports the City’s Sister City relationship with Ixmiquilpan, Mexico.
Rooted in Clearwater’s relationship with Nagano, Japan, CSC develops and presents cultural programs that bring international arts, traditions, perspectives, and cultural ambassadors to Clearwater. Programs have included festivals, performances, visual arts demonstrations, lectures, cultural celebrations, artist presentations, and educational activities that connect local audiences with cultures from around the world.
In addition to public programming, Clearwater Sister Cities coordinates student and teacher exchanges that foster meaningful cultural connections between communities. The organization works closely with the City of Clearwater, Sister Cities International, the Consulate-General of Japan in Miami, educational institutions, cultural organizations, and international partners to create opportunities for cultural learning, artistic exchange, and people-to-people connections that extend beyond borders.
