Progress in the Studio

Greetings from Clearwater! The last couple of weeks have been infused with both working on paintings and taking time to contemplate some parameters for the work I’d like to present for our EAG Exhibit that will be opening in May.

                                         (painting in progress)

At the beginning of the week, I met with Beth Gelman, curator at Creative Pinellas, to share my intention of continuing the pink cloud series I finished at the end of 2022. These paintings were much smaller in format but I look to them for continued inspiration as I create larger works of the same theme. The beautiful part of setting intentions and parameters is that more possibilities arise.  The more I work, the energy flows stronger and there is a sense of discovery with color interaction and the illusion of atmospheric space within the picture plane.

I had the opportunity to paint my studio space white and install better lighting. I am now able to view and look at paintings with plenty of open space as I now have 3 walls to hang large canvases that are in the works.

Last week, I received notification that I was accepted to attend the Florida Division of Arts and Culture’s Professional Development for Artists in Fort Meyers at the end of February. I am so grateful for this opportunity to learn and grow in the areas of marketing and presenting my work. There has been so much innovation with technology since I graduated from art school in 2002. Although I continued to paint steadily for over 20 years, I started to  exhibit my work again in 2019. The business side of art and community building are areas that I hope to expand on over the coming months and years in Pinellas County and beyond.

To view my current work, I can be found on both Instagram and Facebook @kimberlyengelart.  Please go to http://www.kimberlyengel.com to view and purchase original paintings that are available. If you would like to stay in touch, please join my mailing list as I have plans to share a bi-monthly newsletter on studio happenings, art field trips around Tampa Bay and notifications about new available works.
