Letäó»s start the month strong with some important birthdays. On Saturday, ŒæDunedin Breweryäó»s 21st brings Displace. It doesn’t get any funkier than their, funk-fusion, disco-jazz extravaganza; described as good oläó» homegrown Floridian Psychedelic. ŒæIn contrast, next friday July 7, the Blueberry Patch turns 40 surrounded with peace, love and blueberries, of course. Thereäó»s going to be an area set up for rehashing memories, after all not everyone stays open since summer ’77. Featured bands include Tampa native and singer-songwriter Dylan Cowles with a number of different acts and tons of talent. Dylan is also a regular on WMNFäó»s Florida Folk show. ŒæThe Rosewoods a young, bluesy and powerful retro act with an unbelievable amount of soul will finish out the night.

Returning to Saturday 2017 Vanäó»s Warped Tour is kicking it at Vinoy park with an amazing amount of punk-rock bands, ranging from Hawthorne Heights and The Ataristo heavier acts like Hatebreedand all-out GWARjust to name a few. Rapper and part of the original Chicago trap wave Keith “Chief Keef” Cozart is invading Jannus Live on Saturday. Interscope dropped him in 2014 for legal troubles, now he runs a label/brand of his own called Glo Gang. Keef is famous for his violent style exemplified on the remix äóìDonäó»t Like.1äó Yeezy dropped a few years back on the Cruel Summer album, and his feuds with a bunch of other rappers and celebrities most recently Ja Rule.

Hot Club of SRQ is swinging all Saturday night long at the Ale and the Witch they are described as äóìFloridaäó»s finest violin and guitar ensemble.” Mandolin virtuoso Fil Pate is the guest star. So if you love that gypsy jazz groove donäó»t let this one fly by.

Legendary DJ Paul Oakenfold takes over Shephard’s Beach Resort on Sunday July 2nd. Paul is a multi-Grammy nominee and one of the biggest names in House music for the last 20 years. Strict dress code is enforced on äóìEvolution Sundays.”

For our Designated Tampa Show䋢 vibe with C-Rena and friends at The Attic in Ybor City. Brown Street Promotions presents “Soul in The Attic,” an evening of spoken word and soul. Spoken Word Master Moses West graces the stage doing what he does best. Then a collage of emotions translated into vocals and music that takes hold of you with the Demi Nova experience. Headlining this soul-stirring evening is C-Rena. The songstress comes back home to Tampa Bay and is guaranteed to enchant you. Fans of Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill should love both of these stand-out artists.

Chant the Trees

Arkane AleworksŒæis one a handful of venues that makes Largo more than a drive-by town. The friendly establishment serves tasty homebrews and provides an ever-changing variety of entertainment. Celebrate the Arkane Aleworks 1st Anniversary with diverse variety of craft beer and music both inside and in the biergarten. Thereäó»s gonna be some great food,and even better performances. The music lineup includes acoustic duo Brothers Gabriel, noon-3 p.m. (sunny acoustic duo with a Jack Johnson feel, in the biergarten); Mia Bury,Œæ3-4 p.m. (a fierce young bombshell and singer-songwriter with a world-worn delivery that belies her age); Chant the Trees,Œæ4-7 p.m., also in the biergarten (soothing introspective folk pop with heartfelt harmonies, sparkly mandolins and other pretty strings and things); Lea Braun Music7-8 p.m. (acoustic diva with mighty pipes and idiosyncratic vocal stylings) and Jam Jones,Œæ8-10 p.m. (blues rock with solid musicianship). Another act, to be determined, will play 10-midnight.

Attention previous owners of K-Tel Records and 70s soft rock revivalists, Capitol has your night. Firefall performs mellow bluesy-folky radio hits like äóìJust Remember I Love You,äó and äóìStrange Wayäó with the stellar Brit artiste and melodic supergenius Al Stewart. Hear his still-great elfin vocal and stripped down performances of the lush ballad äóìYear of the Catäó and the whimsically elegant äóìTime Passagesäó among other selections from his prolific career. Multi-instrumentalist Marc Macisso joins Stewart onstage.

Happy Fourth of July! Thereäó»s a nice variety of family-friendly events around the area; some with music, most without (or with a respectable senior patriotic orchestra or recorded music). ŒæThe standout among both festivities and musical offerings is the Gulfportäó»s July 4th Celebration brings raucous, swinging fun with Keith Jones and the Makeshifts, a super-fun swing/rockabilly band with stage antics and loads of energy.
