Classic Albums Live: Led Zeppelin IV

The Classic Albums Live ensemble takes a very particular philosophical stance towards classic rock albums, promising äóÖnote for note, cut for cutäó» live performances of the greats. Of course, that could seem to ignore the fact that a band like Zeppelin probably never performed classics like äóìBlack Dogäó and äóìStairway to Heavenäó exactly the same way twice. But given that Zeppelin havenäó»t played anything close to a full-lineup show in a decade, this may be your best bet to wind on down the road. $35-$50,

One word: Grimes. If youäó»re a fan of the weirdo mix of techno and dream pop served up by the Canadian weirdo also known as Clair Boucher, youäó»re going to flip for the hardcore elf-wave of St. Peteäó»s own Pleasures, who just dropped a stellar collection of remixes taken from their latest album. Weäó»re calling it now äóî theyäó»re gonna be famous (and in the meantime, you can have the utmost faith in the Bendsäó» taste in openers). Free admission.

Dead Prez

If you donäó»t have a ticket for this already, it might be too late. Dead Prez aren’t radio champions these days, but itäó»s still absolutely astonishing that one of the greatest hip hop groups of the early 2000s’ äóìbackpackeräó movement are playing a tiny dive bar in the äóÖburg. This is the kind of show youäó»ll tell your grandkids about (probably, admittedly, to their utter disinterest).

This seems an appropriate context for a confession äóñ we overlooked the opening of this new American Stage production last weekend. But forgive our lapse and go see this examination of various sorts of friction between what are, in the playäó»s world, book-loving Gen Xers and digital Gen Yers. The conceit sounds a bit contrived, but itäó»s by House of Cards writer Laura Eason and has gotten rave reviews. [Editor’s note: Read CP’s Assistant Editor Julie Garisto review here.] $39-$59

Celebrating the women of Tampa Bay, this evening brings together poetry, live art, dance, and sculpture for an immersive tour of local talent. The performances will also frame a panel discussion on gender equality featuring a trio of local leaders.
