Wendy Bruce

Wendy Bruce grew up in the Washington, D.C. area, where she spent her weekends exploring the art galleries and museums. It was here that she decided a life in the arts was for her. While earning degrees at Virginia Commonwealth University in Painting/Fiber Arts and Art Education, she could be found every evening at the library, deliriously happy exploring an entire Floor devoted to art books. A Fiber arts class rekindled her childhood love of creating with fabric, paper and thread. Her work has been included in several Handweavers’ Guild of America exhibitions. She has also exhibited work in Fiber Directions at the Wichita, Kansas Center for the Arts as well as galleries located in New York, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Georgia and the Tampa Museum of Art. In 2016, she was a Finalist for Pinellas County Schools Teacher of the Year. Retired after 35 years of teaching Art, Wendy continues to be inspired by her students, who demonstrated to her every day the joy of creating. Her current studio is located in Largo, Florida.
