Michael Irrizary Pagan was born in New York City. His family was filled with artists and craftsmen. I believe that I was born into the right environment; my mother would always have clay, pencils, and small things to stimulate creativity, along with all the family members involved in making some form of art.
“I never attended a formal art school. My schools were the many art galleries and museums of New York City. I would have to say that I am self taught. That my teachers were the many painters and individuals I encountered through out my life and travels.
It is my belief that work should always pay homage to those from who I learned so much, that it should always question social norms and challenge my vision of how to present that artistically. I attempt to create works that I hope stimulate discourse, hopefully in a humorous, serious, and enlightening manner”.

Michael Irrizary Pagan nació en la ciudad de Nueva York. Su familia estaba llena de artistas y artesanos.
Creo que nací en el ambiente correcto; mi madre siempre tendría barro, lápices y cosas pequeñas para estimular la creatividad, junto con todos los miembros de la familia que participan en la creación de algún tipo de arte.
“Nunca asistí a una escuela de arte formal. Mis escuelas fueron las muchas galerías de arte y museos de la ciudad de Nueva York. Debería decir que soy autodidacta. Que mis maestros eran los muchos pintores e individuos que encontré a lo largo de mi vida y mis viajes.
Creo que el trabajo siempre debe rendir homenaje a quienes aprendí tanto, que siempre debería cuestionar las normas sociales y desafiar mi visión de cómo presentar eso artísticamente. Intento crear obras que espero estimulen el discurso, ojalá de manera humorística, seria y esclarecedora ”.
