Congratulations.

Congratulations to the selected artists for the South Pasadena, FL Mural Project Round 2 in partnership with the City of South Pasadena. The selected artists and their locations are Cecilia Lueza (South Pasadena Shopping Center), Sydney Prusso (Pasadena Bar and Grill), and Ximena Sousa (Kimberly Nails).

Art Goals

The South Pasadena Mural Project is a collaborative initiative designed to create visually appealing spaces that inspire, captivate, and showcase the distinctive qualities that make South Pasadena special while enhancing the aesthetics of the commercial corridor. The objective is to encourage people to pause, admire remarkable murals, and discover what South Pasadena has to offer both residents and visitors, instilling a sense of pride in the local community and businesses.

Artists who applied for the first South Pasadena mural round are encouraged to apply for this second round. Artists will need to fill out a new application.

Artist Information Session

Artists will have an opportunity to meet with Creative Pinellas and participating Partners to learn about the project and to ask any questions they may have during the application period via an online meeting platform.

Call To Artists Important Dates:

Second Cycle:

  • Call for Entries Open: December 12, 2023
  • Artist Info session: Dec. 19, 2023, 12-1 pm
  • Call for Entries Close: January 24, 2024
  • Selected Artists will be tentatively notified by February 12. 2024 (Depending on City Commission meeting)
  • Artist/ Partner Meetings: within 1 week of selection date
  • Three Mural Final Designs must be submitted: Feb. 28, 2024
  • Approved no later than: March 8, 2024
  • Possible start date: March 11, 2024
  • Walkthrough and completion date: No later than April 29, 2024
  • Touch-ups (if needed): 3 days to complete touch-ups after walk-through.

Kimberly Nails: 800 Pasadena Ave S

150 sq/ft paintable space 9’x17’
Budget: $1,700 artist stipend
Materials: $500 (This location will not have a pod due to parking space)

 

South Pasadena Shopping Center: 6894 Gulfport Blvd S

1100 sq/ft paintable space 20’x 54’ (Wall faces Pasadena Ave S)
Budget $12,000 artist stipend
Materials: $2,000 (Lift will be provided at no cost to artist for agreed-upon time frame)

 

Pasadena Bar and Grill: 796 Pasadena Ave S

385 sq/ft paintable space 11’x32′
Budget: $5,000 artist stipend
Materials: $1,000

 

*All dates and Locations are subject to change. Artist fees vary per location. Additional funds will be provided to cover costs for materials and supplies.

We kindly request that artists who have completed a mural for Creative Pinellas within the past 12 months refrain from applying.

Applications are due by January 24, 2024, at 11:59 pm EST via online application.
