Jose Feliciano

José Feliciano nació en Isabela, Puerto Rico, en 1939. Tenía solo cinco años cuando su familia se mudó a Nueva York. José estudió en la Liga de Estudiantes de Arte en New York City. Su experiencia incluye haber sido Artista para Joe Papp’s Public Theatre, Metropolitan Opera House’s en la producción de “Antonio y Cleopatra,” y “La Flauta Mágica” diseñada por Marc Chagall. También diseñó escenografías para Off Broadway Theater, para películas y television. José fué tambien artista residente en Adelphi University donde diseñó el escenario para el ballet “The Voyages of Odysseus.” Para este tiempo tambien participaba en exposiciones colectivas y presentó varias exposiciones individuales en galerías de Nueva York donde recibió reseñas favorables en publicaciones como el Riverdale y The Bronx News. En el 2001 se mudó a Florida y comenzó a ejercer como maestro de arte. Ha estado comprometido a la educación de los niños y adultos con discapacidad por los últimos quince años. José fue nominado maestro del año en los años 2007 y 2009. Ha estado tambien participando en exposiciones colectivas donde ha recibido premios de National Arts Program y Osceola Arts.

José M. Feliciano was born in Isabela, Puerto Rico, in 1939. He was 5 years old when his family moved to New York. José studied at the Art Students League in New York City. His experience includes shop artist at Joe Papp’s Public Theatre, The Metropolitan Opera House’s production of “Anthony and Cleopatra,” and “The Magic Flute,” designed by Marc Chagall. He also designed scenery for Off Broadway Theater, film and television. Feliciano was also an artist in-residence at Adelphi University where he designed the scenery for the full length ballet ‘The Voyages of Odysseus.” At that time he was also participating in collective art exhibits and presented several solo art shows in different galleries of New York, receiving good reviews from newspapers like “The Riverdale” and “The Bronx News.” In 2001, he moved to Florida and started a career as an art teacher. He has been very committed to educating children as well as adults with varying disabilities for the past 15 years. José was nominated Art Teacher of the Year in 2007and 2009. He has participated in numerous collective art exhibits and he received several awards from the National Arts Program and Osceola Arts
