Creative Pinellas, an award-winning county arts organization located in Largo, Florida is seeking an enthusiastic, insightful, and deadline conscientious Marketing and Communications Manager. This innovative and dynamic individual will supercharge the organization’s presence by promoting the organization’s brand and various arts initiatives with creative messaging that penetrates existing and new markets throughout the county, region, and beyond.
The Marketing and Communications Manager, in coordination with the Creative Pinellas team, will promote and advance the organization’s brand identity and reputation, leading the development, execution, and tracking of all communications activities, with an emphasis on campaign analytics, performance, and projections.
Marketing and Communications Manager will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will be expected to collaborate easily and work closely with the team leadership, colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders across the organization. The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for the promotion of programmatic accomplishments, success stories, CEO, and staff profiles, highlighting grantees and artists, and work to promote the organization and its experts as thought leaders in the region.
Responsibilities and Duties
The day-to-day functions will include managing a portfolio of marketing projects, defining priorities, and working closely with the senior team of Creative Pinellas. The Marketing and Communications Manager will be expected to perform the organization’s communication functions at a very high level. These functions include:
Strategic Communications:
The Marketing and Communications Manager will help push Creative Pinellas to innovate beyond the current communications functions and to seek out creative and untapped opportunities for elevating the brand. This position requires foresight and imagination to forecast the future needs of the organization beyond current projects and initiatives.
Digital Marketing:
Manage and coordinate digital content for Creative Pinellas through the development and implementation of creative and eye-catching campaigns on the website, email, social media, and other digital outlets. This includes writing or sourcing relevant content for promotion of the organization and initiatives.
Original content:
Participate in the development and implementation of public-facing original content and public engagement campaigns, with an emphasis on artist and audience engagement, participant success stories, and assist in the creation of regular audio/visual engagement (such as virtual programs, videos, podcasts, etc.).
Marketing Collateral:
Coordinate and oversee the development and update of organizational marketing and advertising materials.
Media Relations and Press:
Oversee traditional media management, outreach, pitching stories, coordination, writing press releases, and connecting with the press to cover notable events and happenings associated with the organization.
Metrics and Analysis:
The Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for generating and presenting performance reports that show metrics with a narrative and analysis generated from campaigns across a variety of platforms and outlets.
Partnerships and Collaborations:
The Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for the development and execution of promotional campaigns to bring community attention to collaborative initiatives, community activities, programs, and program partners.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong written and oral communications, research, proofreading, and leadership skills. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear, concise, and logical manner.
Marketing and Communications Manager is empowered to build relationships outside of the organization in collaboration with work colleagues. This person must be capable of establishing meaningful relationships with the media, arts community, among others, to create productive and beneficial outcomes for the organization.
Good judgment, discretion, tact, and the ability to work easily with senior leaders within the non-profit, government, and business sectors.
Track record of thinking conceptually and mastering complex subject matter quickly.
Ability to work independently.
Education and Experience
Job-related experience in marketing, communications, and strategic brand management.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent vocational experience is preferred, with preference in communication/marketing, public relations, etc.
Ability to manage a concept or project from conception to execution.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other design and video platforms is a benefit, but not required.
Experience working with project management software like Monday, Basecamp, etc., is preferred.
A general knowledge of arts marketing and the Pinellas County arts scene is a benefit.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Additional skills
Must be able to travel to and from Creative Pinellas office as well as off-site meetings.
