When Things Get Low

When Things Get Low

I’ve been feeling pretty low the past week (and full of anxiety over the past month) about my value as an artist and instructor trying to figure out how to make it all work out. And by “make it work out” I mean, make a living at being an artist.

When that panic of scarcity sets in I reach out to my therapist, my meditation coach, and Louis Hay’s book, “You Can Heal Your Life”. I meditate, I visualize my best possible outcome, I embrace the feeling of having no financial issues to my bones, (It’s easier said than done. This is not the first time I’ve had to do this because scarcity and unworthiness is a pretty universal feeling and I’m still working!) and I make affirmation cards in writing and picture.

From Louis Hay’s book, I found these affirmations and ideas about sending love and abundance of prosperity to all of the avenues for income. I made images of my mailbox being full of checks, my email being full of requests for my services, my Instagram being full of followers who are buying my products, and my doorstep being full of blessings and packages. This helps me reframe how I see these objects as opportunities for abundance of prosperity rather than fear them for my feeling of lack or less than.

I also wrote out the affirmations from the book so that I can read them daily. There is something about writing it down that really starts to place the foundation of changing your thought process. Writing it multiple times helps too! Practice makes perfect right?

My goal is to have multiple streams of income from online downloads of art classes, a Patreon account for monthly art prints and stickers, online Zoom art for wellness workshops, teaching, my own personal body of work as a painter, and developing programming for arts for wellness.

I appreciate every like and wow and “that’s fire” comments on my work because it gives me reassurance that I’m not creating for no one and that I will have a patron following and that my services are needed.

Thank you for reading my rant! I’m open for any suggestions on how to make the most out of online art sales and/or services, please point me in the right direction!
