Artist Statement: The Graces
“The Graces is the name of my 2019 Emerging Artist piece. The medium is Michelangelo Cave Carrara Statuario Marble and the total dimensions of the three stone sculptures sitting upon metal bases are 70″H x 75″ W x 34″D.
The Graces were born out of my joy in celebrating the natural beauty that I am surrounded by and in that expression, pay homage to the Earth and her infinite capacity to love, nurture and heal if only humanity can listen.
Reflecting back to my Greek roots, I chose the mythological goddesses, Aglaea, Thalia, and Euphrosyne to represent the awakening of a reverence for our planet, ourselves and each other. In the sharing of the Arts of all forms, they urge us to reconnect with our higher selves in the spirit of joy and creativity, and discover the wholeness and peace that is our true nature.”
