Hello everyone!
Welcome to my first blog post as an emerging artist grantee. I must take a moment to thank Creative Pinellas for this exciting opportunity, and also to congratulate all of the artists who have received this grant. Keep up the hard work!
A little of me.
My name is Kodi Thompson and I work primarily with clay, but have dipped my toes into many mediums. I was born and raised in a small town tucked away in the Appalachian mountains of Pennsylvania. I received my BFA degree in 2014, my MFA degree in 2018, and was an Artist in Residence in between degrees at the Morean Center for Clay. After graduate school I moved back to St Pete and set up my studio in my garage. I find myself still acclimating to the world of being an artist outside of academia, but this grant will offer me a chance to relax, and concentrate on making.
What to expect.
Process: (Noun) A series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end.
Progress: (Noun) Forward or onward movement toward a destination.
My goal with this blog is to let you in on the process and progress of my work leading up to our summer exhibition. Both are undeniably important as an artist and a human being, and it is critical that one inform the other as I make my way through the ever changing world of art.
