Flora & Fauna showcases the artworks of A Galban, Adriano Nicot, Jorge Dans, Froilán Escobar, Josignacio, and Leslie Hiatt in a captivating fusion of color, line, and creativity, where the beauty of nature intertwines with artistic expression. Curated by A Galban and Tarin Mohajeri, this art exhibition offers a profound and immersive experience, granting visitors the opportunity to marvel at the wonders of flora and fauna while encouraging them to embrace a sense of responsibility for the preservation of our planet’s biodiversity. Awardees of the Beyond Placemaking Grant from Creative Pinellas and the National Endowment for the Arts, the Flora & Fauna artists have partnered with the Florida Botanical Gardens Foundation to provide art experiences for people of all ages and abilities through scheduled tours and field trips.

Edel Alvarez Galban (AGalban)

Edel Alvarez Galban was born and raised in Havana, Cuba. He showed early artistic inclination in his youth, although his initial professional intent was to pursue a medical career in Cuba. However, in 1993 Galban was denied permission from the Castro government to practice medicine, and so redirected his aspirations back to his passion for the arts. Adriano Nicot

Adriano Adolfo Fernandez Nicot is a Cuban-American painter and poet based in Miami, Florida. Nicot was born on October 9, 1964, in Havana, Cuba during the early years following the Cuban Revolution. His French heritage from his mother’s family is significant as he is descended from Jean Nicot, who first brought tobacco to France. Jorge Dans

Jorge Dans is a Cuban-Swiss artist with more than 30 years of experience as an artist, designer, engraver, and professor of visual arts. Froilán Escobar

Froilán Escobar González was born in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba in 1944, where he grew up and completed primary and secondary education. In 1961, he moved to Havana where, later, he would begin university studies in journalism. In 1963, he met José Lezama Lima and took part as a disciple in the Delphic Course. Tarin Mohajeri

Co-curator Tarin Mohajeri was born in Miami, Florida and grew up in West Palm Beach. She has always had a love for art, especially photography. She studied Humanities and Photography at Florida State University and ultimately received a master’s in arts administration.
