It’s that time again – the 6th Annual Artist Studio Tour is taking place this weekend, March 18 and 19 from 10 am to 5 pm in the Historic Kenwood Artist Enclave.
Every year, on the 3rd weekend in March, artists of this central St. Petersburg neighborhood invite the public to stroll along the leafy streets and visit studios and art exhibits in homes and backyards. The tour is self-guided, free, and everyone is invited.
The Artist Enclave of Historic Kenwood (AEHK) is an overlay district designated by the city of St. Petersburg. It covers the neighborhood of Historic Kenwood from Central Avenue to 9th Ave N and from 19th Street to 34th Street.
This designation allows artists to create artwork, teach students, and sell their creations from their homes. These special accommodations – also given to the Old Southeast Artist Enclave near USFSP – encourage a thriving arts and culture community.
It also creates a unique environment for visitors to explore. Because most Kenwood artists live and also create in the neighborhood’s modest-sized Craftsman houses and historic bungalows, visitors get a unique glimpse of how and where artists work and live.
Visitors can learn about the creative process of individual artists, purchase original artwork, enjoy beautiful gardens, socialize, and get inspired by the art on display.
Last year, about 1,000 people attended the 2-day event – by foot or by wheels.
This year, the self-guided tour includes 20 stops with a total of 34 artists – making it the largest Historic Kenwood Artist Studio Tour to date. It includes work by ceramicists, sculptors, jewelers, photographers, mixed multimedia artists, fine art painters, fine craft artists, social artists, musicians, and other visual and performance artists.
For the first time this year, artists-in-residence at Craftsman House and the Museum of Motherhood Arts Annex are invited to participate in the prestigious event.

Live performances will take place at a variety of studios and in artists’ yards. You can find the schedule here. Due to the weather forecast, performance schedules might change.
Maps of all the stops will be available at all the studios and several public businesses – Craftsman House, Kenwood Gables, Woodfield Fine Art Gallery, Pete’s Bagels) – as long as supplies last.
Convenient, GPS-ready, public stops along the tour – Kenwood Gables (2801 7th Ave N), Craftsman House (2955 Central Ave N) and Seminole Park (2900 3rd Ave N).
The 2023 Historic Kenwood Artist Studio Tour is a rain or shine event. However, if there is a lot of rain, some of the outdoor stops may not be open for the entire event. You can check the webpage for the latest updates.
