Souvenir: Folk Music From Russia–Friday, November 18

Soprano Elona Krasavtseva, named a National Treasure of Russia, will sing a variety of Russian folk tunes as much as 500 years old. They might tend towards the maudlin äóñ even Russian wedding songs are also known as äóìcrying songs.äó But sheäó»ll leaven them with a smattering of Italian, Spanish, and American folk songs as well, on a äóìmusical world touräó guided by a pro.

Et Cultura Design Exhibition 2016–Friday, November 18äóñ Sunday, November 20

With the goal of promoting awareness of design and culture, the local marketing agency Hype Group has put together a three-day event combining a marketplace and exhibition, and coinciding with the larger Et Cultura culture and interactive festival. The exhibit, showcasing graphic design artists, opens on Friday at 8 p.m. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, a Makeräó»s Market for independent crafsfolk will roll out on Baum Avenue, just around the corner from Green Bench.

Destroyer Fest 2016–Friday, November 18

Destroyer Fest gathers together rising Florida metal acts, with a focus on the slow and heavy doom and sludge styles all the rage these days, and puts them on a couple of big bills. This yearäó»s highlight is Friday headliner Cough, Richmond-VA out-of-towners who hit the post-Black Sabbath sweet spot.

Planet Retro Records Grand Re-Opening Block Party–Saturday, November 19

Planet Retro is a St. Pete gem for fans of great music, a vinyl destination where obscure gems and the latest shiny hitmakers rub shoulders. The shop has now expanded from its Grand Central location into an even bigger store on MLK, and theyäó»re celebrating with an all-day block party thatäó»s sure to be a see-and-be-seen kind of thing for the entire Tampa Bay music community. Musicians include Shae Krispinsky, The Kevin K Band, and Kuraishi, and theyäó»re even roping in nearby Coney Island Hot Dogs and Foolish Pride Tattoo to add their own events. And a keg!

Carousel Photography Showcase–Sunday, November 20, 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m.

Carousel is a longstanding photographic slideshow series, this year folded into the Et Cultura festival. Ten photographers, including both professionals and amateurs, will present their work to a live audience. This yearäó»s presenters include Tristan Wheelock, Kim Turner Smith, and local stalwart Todd Bates, along with a selection of work from journalism students at area elementary, middle, and high schools.
