Dance Linkages & Poetica present Dance in the Time of Coronavirus, a series of socially distanced dance performances. All performances are free.
Saturday, July 11 – Volution
runs continuously from 11 am – noon
864 Severn Ave, Seaplane Basin Park & Davis Islands Trail
Davis Islands, Tampa
Episode #3 – Volution is a meditative dance work choreographed by Amanda Sieradzki and performed by a cast of 20 dancers along Davis Islands’ Seaplane Basin Park & Bike Path. Audience members are encouraged to ride, roll or walk by to experience this moving installation.
Dancers will be spaced 20 feet apart along the Davis Island Bike Path. The audience may observe the piece by entering either along Severn Ave or at the start of the Seaplane Basin park, on bicycles or as pedestrians, and watch the dance unfold as they pass by.
This is a durational dance, meaning there is no official “beginning” or “end” other than the hour mark – it runs continuously from 11 am-12 pm on July 11, and the audience is welcome to join us at any time during that hour.
We ask that people ride single file, maintain social distance, and keep moving at a reasonable speed to avoid congregating. While we cannot enforce a mask policy, we ask that audience members wear a mask as a courtesy to others.
If you can’t make it to the performance, we will be live-streaming this event from the Facebook event page.
Choreographers Andee Scott and Amanda Sieradzki believe in the value of live performance and the responsibility of artists to rise to the challenges of our time. This series emphasizes the importance of building a community for art and artists that reinforces our shared humanity. Our intention is to be as inclusive as possible while taking safe, responsible, and respectful measures.
We offer these dances in memorial to all who have lost their lives, a loved one, a member of their community. We offer these dances in gratitude for all those who are working on the front lines – our heroes named and unnamed who care for and whose work provides for others. We offer these dances in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and in support of social justice. We offer these dances as hope for a kinder and more equitable future.
