One of the things I love the most about being a public artist is traveling all across the country. You never know what a new project will bring. New places and people to meet and new challenges filled with wonderful memories to treasure along the way.
For the past two decades we have been very fortunate to visit several cities throughout the country thanks to ART. From Miami to San Diego, Boise to Norfolk and Providence to Pensacola. Every trip is different and even when you think you have it all planned out, unexpected events can always be found around the corner.
In the end it’s all worth it because we are connecting with the public through our work while providing an element of beauty, meaning and joy to a city that we may not belong to but once there we instantly become a part of. And in turn it becomes a part of our history. Every time we complete an installation we find ourselves looking forward to the next time we’ll be back in that town.
On a few occasions we have actually became temporary residents of a particular city, because of the lengthy installation process that would take several weeks to complete. Those were the most enriching experiences because they allowed us to integrate ourselves into the rhythm of the city and become a part of it. We’ve always made it a point to learn about their history and connect with members of the community and blend in to its zeitgeist.
This summer we are looking forward to new adventures, new challenges and making more wonderful memories!
