This weekend I get to do something I absolutely love- I get to perform- with live music, live actors, and a live audience! After more than a year of shuttered theaters and postponed or cancelled opportunities it seems monumental that I am currently in rehearsals for two performances that will happen the the month of May. The first performance on Saturday May 15, is part of St. Petersburg’s Roser Park Neighborhood Porchfest. This festival will feature free musical performances happening on porches scattered throughout the neighborhood and the official unveiling of a new public art installation by Jeff Whipple. “Relaxation Rollers” by Whipple are delightfully whimsical sculptural discs featuring animals found in Roser Park.
I am part of a group of artists who has been commissioned to perform in response to “Relaxation Rollers”. Sheila Cowley has written two tiny plays which include actors, dancers and musicians. I will frolic, bounce, boogie and dance my way through the park, basking in the joy of sharing space and art with my community.
