Perseverance and Patience
What does it take to successfully achieve goals related to your craft? Perhaps the greatest characteristic is perseverance followed closely by patience.
I am a classically trained singer who likes to dabble with fusing the jazz and neo-soul genres. There are lots of singers in the world, all with varied degrees of formal and God-given talent. The music industry is very crowded; therefore, for a singing artist to really stand out, they must not only have a good-to-great voice, they must have the ‘it’ thing that is difficult to qualify because it is organic and subject to widely differing interpretation. It is for these dynamic and often times subjective reasons that PERSEVERANCE and PATIENCE become essential… meaning not OPTIONAL!
Every day, I practice perseverance and patience to remain focused, driven, and hopeful. For any artist in any discipline, time can seem to stand still even when there is constant momentum toward the ultimate goal: SUCCESS in the public space. Having the great opportunity and fortune to blog about my personal experiences and feelings helps me keep my eye on the prize that one day I am certain I will claim.
Having a ‘roadmap’ to success is also helpful to keeping my focus. I found this guidance on the internet. Perhaps it can be applied to your craft as well!
