Artist statement :
My artwork takes many forms, from gateway sculptures, to suspended artworks, in-ground artworks, and temporary projects, each taking into consideration the personality of the community and honoring the architecture where they are sited. My work introduces color, presence and scale to environments and often incorporates elements which resonate with the local populace. Elements such as abstracted images of neighborhood locations, color palettes specific to the area, and historical images from archived photos, have been utilized in past works.
I work in a variety of styles ranging from representational to abstract. Visiting sites, researching the area and speaking with the local populace sparks ideas for artwork which will inspire the community. I employ a mix of ‘high tech’ and classic art materials, resulting in works with intelligence and heart. Whenever
possible, I work with local fabricators, installers and engineers and consider this collaboration an important part of the art making process.
