Guidelines
Interested artists take note of the following guidelines to apply:
- Artists must be a Pinellas County Resident or have strong community ties to Pinellas County and if selected to do the project will be asked to complete a W9 and will need to provide proof of insurance during the onsite painting dates of the project.
- A short biography or resume
- 4-10 photographs of four or more works, including at least one mural of your design or have been lead on the painting team.
- A brief written summary or description of your idea of approaching the project to meet City of South Pasadena goals of transforming the environment, creating appealing spaces, and reflecting the art goals of each location.
- Artists can submit one application for all locations or can select just one location they are interested in applying for.
- Please do not submit final designs for this project in your application, it limits the process when evaluating you as an artist overall.
- Contact information for 3 references from past mural work or art show curator
- Link to website and social media sites
- Please do not apply if you have completed a mural for Creative Pinellas in the last 12 months as we would like to create as many opportunities for as many artists as possible.
Applications are due by January 24, 2024, at 11:59 pm EST via online application. Link to application supplied in Apply Button below.
Artists who applied for the first South Pasadena mural round are encouraged to apply for this second round. Artists will need to fill out a new application.
Application Information
Each application submitted between December 12, 2023 and January 24, 2024, at 11:59 pm will undergo a review process by a panel consisting of a South Pasadena City Representative, a representative from each business, a Mural Artist, and an Art Curator. Artists will be notified of the results no later than February 12, 2024 (Please note that the City Commission meeting may impact the notification timeline). Artists who are not selected will also receive a notification at that time.
Once notified, the selected artist will receive detailed measurements and photos of their assigned location. Artists will also have the opportunity to schedule an in-person meeting with Creative Pinellas, the City of Pasadena Representative, and the business owner of the awarded location. This meeting will involve a tour of the space and will take place within one week of the selection date.
Following the site review and meeting with Creative Pinellas, the City Representative, and the business owner, the artist will be required to submit three (3) Mural Final Design proposals for approval. Edits can be requested for the artist to review if a design cannot be agreed upon within the first three designs. This is a collaborative project and feedback from stakeholders should be expected for the designs.
