Jason Hackenwerth Blog Post 2
Before posting any more recent projects I thought it might be good to give those interested a little more info about me and a glimpse into my life in St. Pete.
After spending 10 years living in New York City and traveling around the world making large scale sculptures from latex balloons, my wife and I decided to move to St. Petersburg. The goal was to find a home and a community that would be ideal for raising a family and function as a convenient home base for my travels.
We found a lovely house in Old Northeast downtown St. Pete and started renovating as soon as we moved in. Within a few years my wife gave birth to twins and our lives have been extra busy ever since.
We’ve made great progress but it always seems like it’s taking forever. And I continue to stay busy traveling the world making large sculptures. This can be a challenge but also very rewarding. Last year I began teaching at Eckerd College. The faculty have been extremely welcoming. It’s very much like a family that I feel grateful to have the chance to join.
Here are some links to videos from my past projects as well as a personal video that will give a peek at the first 2 years of our time here in St. Pete.
I hope that you will also check out my instagram feed where I post my projects as they progress. @hackenwerth
