Based on a film that told the story of three journalists navigating political turmoil in Nicaragua, this new musical from Barry Harman promises to blend romance and action with heady questions about journalistic ethics äóñ a particularly important subject for our times. The reading will feature 8 actors and a live band.

Pride Loft Party with Roy Davis Jr., Saturday June 17th
This oneäó»s a sleeper. Davis, based in Chicago, is one of the founding fathers of post-disco House music, but heäó»s constantly changed with the times. Some of his more recent work, including for electro mainstay XL Recordings, has a distinct edge of Detroit minimalism. Things will be packed and sweaty.

Record Shindig at Cage Brewing, Saturday June 17th

Five record retailers from across the Bay Area are coming together at Cage Brewing to show off their stock. That includes Pinellasäó» Daddy Kool, Planet Retro, and Bananas Music, and Tampaäó»s Microgroove and Steelworker Records. There will also be music courtesy DJ Kalani and, presumably, lots of beer.

Forums for Facets Opening, Saturday June 17th
Pizza Box is a new-ish spot with great hearth-fired pizza, which happens to cater to the arty hipster crowd. This exhibit promises to be interesting and, equally important, itäó»s opening with a big party complete with drink specials and live music.

Diana Ross is one of the greatest singers in the American catalog, first as the leader of the Supremes, and later as a solo artist with hits from soul stirrers like äóìAinäó»t No Mountain High Enoughäó to disco burners like äóìUpside Down.äó Sheäó»s a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, baby boomer icon, gay icon, and a living piece of American history.
