Initially, the Florida Watercolor Society held three Annual Exhibitions between 1938 – 1941, but there was no further activity until 1972 with an exhibition at the Maitland Art Center. Since then, the Florida Watercolor Society Annual Exhibition has been held throughout Florida, each year in a different location at many of the state’s most prestigious galleries and museums.
The Florida Watercolor Society’s mission includes contributing to the cultural atmosphere of the state of Florida, and to promote the art of watercolor and to educate the public in the importance of watercolor as a creative and permanent painting medium.
