APRIL 29, 2020 | BY MARK MITCHELL
Creative Pinellas continues to break the mold and find new creative ways to support this year’s grantees during the global health crisis. In my previous blog post, Virtual: The New Reality, I shared my Virtual Artist Studio Tour as part of my grant process. And on April 16th, the organization presented a special Conversation with the Emerging Artists online event—replacing a previously scheduled physical event on their campus. The two-hour Zoom chat (also streamed LIVE on facebook) provided each of the nine grantees an opportunity to field insightful questions from both the moderator and online viewers. It covered topics ranging from our background and aesthetic approach, to facing challenges as an artist during the pandemic shutdown.
What transpired was a lively, engaging discussion that helped define our differences as well as our shared commonalities as a creative community. Below is an edited version of excerpts focusing on my responses that I’m excited to share. I also encourage you to check out the entire group discussion on facebook >> here. Enjoy!
