Laura Kepner believes a story is a lot like its writer―”not complete until it is out in the world, stretching and available.” In 2008, she moved from the Pacific Northwest to Safety Harbor, Florida, and the stretching began. Within a year, she had turned her love of words into a career and was writing for magazines, internet sites and blogs, and soon after finished her first young adult novel.
Kepner started the Safety Harbor Writers & Poets group in 2010 and hosts two writers groups as well as a monthly open mic night; she also teaches workshops and helps to mentor and promote other writers.
Among her other accomplishments is co-authoring “A Brief History of Safety Harbor, Florida”, which was published in 2013, and the facilitation of Safety Harbor’s first writer’s conference in 2015. Her second book for young readers is currently being shopped to editors.
