Jeremiah Jacobs grew up in rural Wisconsin and was introduced to a lifelong love of ceramics through a high school art program. After high school, he attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and was particularly interested in Athenian vase technique which still heavily informs his work.
Jacobs has apprenticed around the country, including in Maine and Hawaii. In 2011, he was a resident artist at the Craftsman House Gallery in St. Petersburg’s Grand Central District, and he decided to move to St. Petersburg on a more permanent basis. He now lives in the Warehouse Arts District.
Jacobs is currently a house gaffer at the Morean Arts Center’s glass hot shop, and many of the skills, ideas, and styles from his ceramics work transfer into glassblowing. Jacobs also regularly heads art workshops for kids at the Morean.
