Glass artist Rob Stern will provide a fascinating peek at the techniques, artistry, and improvisation that make up contemporary glass making during this three-part event at the Gallery at Creative Pinellas. Take part in a two-hour glass etching workshop where you will take home a personalized item you create! After the workshop, listen as Rob talks about glass making and the process and then see a live hot glass demonstration. You can also view some of Rob Stern’s glass creations on display at the Gallery at Creative Pinellas along with a collection glass art from top glass artisans from the area as well as nationally.

1pm-3pm Glass Etching Workshop
Learn the art of glass etching from a master of the medium, Rob Stern. During the two-hour workshop, Rob will lead you through the process of customizing a plate, wine glass or beer mug with a unique design of your choice that you will take home. All materials are provided. Beginners welcome! The workshop is appropriate for all ages and experience levels. The event will be held outdoors in the courtyard at the Gallery at Creative Pinellas in Largo.

3:15pm – 3:45pm Glass Art Talk by Rob Stern
Glass artist Rob Stern will provide a fascinating peek at the techniques, artistry, and improvisation that make up contemporary glassmaking during this 30-minute talk at the Gallery at Creative Pinellas.

4pm – 5pm Hot Glass Demonstration by Rob Stern
See a hot glass demonstration with Rob Stern at the Gallery at Creative Pinellas. Rob is bringing the live glassmaking experience to our courtyard in Largo with his mobile hot shop. Watch as a master glassmaker takes a glowing gob of molten glass on the end of a pipe and skillfully shapes it into a beautiful form while narrating the process.

About the Artist
Rob Stern has taught and participated in numerous workshops, and held residences worldwide, he has apprenticed to a number of highly notable masters and held professor positions in the glass programs at the University of Miami and the University of Texas at Arlington. Rob owns and operates his studio in the Wynwood arts district Miami, FL. For over twenty years where he and his team execute original works, public and private commissions as we as lighting and paintings. His work has been exhibited and collected in the Americas, Europe, and Asia and is included in private collections and in museums internationally.
