George Retkes is a Hungarian-American sculptor based in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida. Though starting on his path to becoming an artist early on, his formal training in art was established with attending the Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School majoring in Visual Arts and graduating in 2006 with honors. Afterwards George promptly relocated to Sarasota where he attended Ringling College of Art and Design and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Following his time at Ringling George moved back to St. Petersburg and worked in residential construction. While having a hand in all phases of the planning and execution of high-end residential renovations as well as new construction, he continued to create personal work and exhibit in group shows in the greater Tampa Bay area. In November of 2014 George began to work with Mark Aeling of MGA Sculpture Studio engaging in the design, fabrication, and installation of sculptural objects in a variety of mediums. To this day George maintains a full-time position at the sculpture studio and continues to seek out new opportunities to engage in creative projects of any caliber.
