Visual artist Francine Ditton earned a BFA from the Savannah College of Art & Design, and her work has been displayed in galleries in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida and Hungary. She is the recipient of grants from the city of New York and Pinellas County and has won a variety of awards for her work.
Ditton describes her work as ‘classical fine art,’ and it clearly shows the influence of the old masters. Her drawings, primarily portraits, are technically refined and dramatic. Her paintings, including both portraits and landscapes, are rich and precise, though with more impressionistic touches.
Ditton’s interest in classical reference points isn’t just aesthetic. She also experiments with historical art processes, and is committed to traditional techniques including working from live references.
