SUMMARY:Art in Recovery: Artwork from the Sixth Judicial Circuit Adult Drug/Veterans Treatment Court
DESCRIPTION:Experience Artwork from the Sixth Judicial Circuit Adult Drug/Veterans Treatment Court this May. \nThis exhibition will feature artwork on display in the Gallery at Creative Pinellas from participants in the Sixth Judicial Circuit Adult Drug/Veterans Treatment Court program who chose to complete the “Art Challenge” as part of their recovery process. These self-reflective works range from the intuitive to the highly trained; all providing a window into the highly personal work of recovery. \nThe Sixth Judicial Circuit Adult Drug Treatment Court is a court-supervised\, comprehensive drug treatment court for eligible non-violent defendants. The program is voluntary and has many steps\, including multiple appearances before the Adult Drug/Veterans Treatment Court Judge. In addition to treatment and testing\, participants have the option of completing a variety of “challenges” to improve their mental and physical health. Veterans Treatment Court is very similar to Drug Court\, but specific for veterans. The mission of Veterans Treatment Court is to divert veterans from jail and to provide help to overcome service-related substance abuse and mental health problems. \nFor more information about the Sixth Judicial Circuit Adult Drug Treatment Court\, please \nCLICK HERE\n  \nFor more information about recovery\, treatment\, and support\, please \nCLICK HERE\n  \n  \nEvents Surrounding Exhibition\n \n \n \n \n \n Art in Recovery: Artwork from the Sixth Judicial Circuit Adult Drug/Veterans Treatment Court – Opening Reception\n \n Posted on April 18\, 2023 by Creative Pinellas \n Join the opening reception at the Gallery at Creative Pinellas for the Art in Recovery: Artwork from the Sixth Judicial Circuit Adult Drug Treatment Court happening Wednesday\, May 24 from 6pm – 8pm…. SUMMARY:IMAGINE BLACKNESS Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Join us for IMAGINE BLACKNESS: ALTERNATE REALITIES AND COLLECTIVE DREAMING\, a collaborative exploration of Blackness and Black representation through AI-generated images created by artist\, McArthur Freeman II\, and sociologist\, Elizabeth Hordge-Freeman.\nFrom a botanical paradise laden with richly hued figures to an otherworldly futuristic sci-fi cosmos\, this exhibition invites viewers to engage in the act of collective dreaming as a social intervention\, which moves beyond the reality of the present world to (re)-imagine and discover new ways of seeing and being. Inspired by Black speculative fiction and Afro-Futurism\, the project offers viewers interactive opportunities to question\, inspire\, and escape by engaging the viewers’ own imaginations in the co-construction of the future and alternate worlds. \n\nFeatured Artists\n \n \n \n \n \n McArthur Freeman\n \n Posted on December 21\, 2022 by Creative Pinellas \n McArthur Freeman II is a visual artist and designer whose work explores hybridity and the construction of identity.
