EMERGING ARTIST GRANTS
Emerging Artist Grants are designed to assist artists early in their career with the tools to make the leap to their next step as professional artists. Each year Creative Pinellas awards up to ten grants to artists with a recognized and proven promise, a history of success, a strong portfolio of work and a vision for their future. Grants are awarded for original work in the disciplines of choreography, literature, media arts, music composition, theater/musical theater, visual arts and interdisciplinary arts. The program is a vehicle for supporting and showcasing innovative and exciting work, contributing to the expansion of Pinellas County’s status as a vibrant arts and cultural destination.
Grantees are provided with a financial award geared toward the production of new work, leading to an exhibition at the close of the grant award period. Artists are paired with a mentor that helps guide the grantee through their development as a professional artist.
Over the course of the funding period, recipients provide an insight into their creative processes for interested visitors through blogs posted at creativepinellas.org. Past awardees have written about current projects, critiques on work in progress, reflections on life as an artist and more.
The Emerging Artist Exhibit is an annual event that takes place in the Gallery at Creative Pinellas.

An online group exhibition of work from talented up and coming artists who were awarded Emerging Artist Grants from Creative Pinellas. This year’s emerging artists have created new work showcased in a virtual gallery space. It is our hope that once the current COVID-19 crisis is contained and the Gallery at Creative Pinellas is able to reopen, we will also be able to host the exhibit for in person viewing. This will be an exciting show full of work by artists on an upward trajectory.
