Application Deadline: June 28
The City of Safety Harbor Public Art Committee is seeking proposals from artists or artist teams for two upcoming public art projects. These are nationwide calls open to all artists and artist teams over the age of 18 residing in the U.S.
Safety Harbor Community Center: Brady Fisher – The free-standing piece will honor the commitment of late downtown business owner and resident Brady Fisher. The piece should include a sports theme.
Mr. Fisher was a longtime supporter of youth athletic programs, specifically basketball. The piece should also include #BradyStrong (this is the hashtag that the City embraced during Mr. Fisher’s battle with cancer).
Budget: up to $10,000
Safety Harbor Baranoff Park: Heart of the Community – The free-standing sculpture will honor the generosity of Mr. George Weiss. Mr. Weiss has donated several thousands of dollars to community parks in Safety Harbor. His donations have allowed for the development of active and passive parks for all to enjoy.
Parks and Mr. Weiss are the “heart of the community” in Safety Harbor. To honor Mr. Weiss, the piece should include a heart or hands holding a heart.
Budget: up to $15,000
A downloadable prospectus and application can be found for both projects at cityofsafetyharbor.com/53/Public-Art-Committee.
