An established local writer and founder of the Bluebird Books Bus, Mitzi Jo Gordon is known locally as a promoter of arts, culture and literacy in the Pinellas arts community and the greater Tampa Bay area. Hands-on, in-touch and involved, Gordon has written about local culture for the Tampa Tribune and Creative Loafing as well as founding and creating a nonprofit bookmobile that’s been a fixture at local events. While at the helm of the Bluebird bus, Gordon has promoted fellow literary talents by enlisting them to get visitors to participate in the writing process, as well as providing classic and vanguard literature to the masses. Other organizations with which Gordon has had an instrumental role include Creative Pinellas, Community Book Boxes, the Bloom Art Center, SHINE Mural Festival and the Nomad Art Bus. Gordon also founded the Carmada art car project, which recruits prominent local artists to cover everyday automobiles with their signature imagery.
