Melissa Miller Nece

One of the U.S.’s leading colored pencil artists, Melissa Miller Nece has illustrated stunningly realistic works that have been featured in national magazines and numerous books on both colored pencil and portraiture.

The Palm Harbor resident approaches her works with enthusiasm and humor, making her a popular speaker and instructor, inspiring others to try colored pencils through her classes and workshops. An instructor since 1990 at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, Nece teaches courses in drawing, colored pencil, oil and acrylic painting.

Nece is also the president of the Colored Pencil Society of America and a signature member of the Miniature Artists of America. Also an accomplished painter in acrylics and oils, Nece often works en plein air. Her works, including many portrait commissions, hangs in corporate, public and private collections, including the Cumberland Pencil Co. in England, and have been featured in packaging, advertising and promotional materials for numerous art materials manufacturers.
