Denis Gaston is a painter whose expressive, character-driven work incorporates elements of cubism, pop art, surrealism, street art, and cartooning. He has been based in Clearwater and Dunedin since the mid-1980s, and his work has been shown in a cross-section of public and private galleries in the region.
Gaston grew up in Florida and graduated from the University of Florida before moving to Georgia to work in graphic design. He returned to the Bay Area to pursue a fine art career in 1984.
Gaston is the recipient of an Individual Artist Fellowship from the State of Florida. His work is held in collections including those of the Polk Museum of Art, the Florida Art in State Buildings Collection, Raymond James Financial, Stetson University College of Law, and Eckerd College.
