Brenda McMahon is a ceramic artist whose work inspires the viewer to tap into life’s quieter, more contemplative moments. Her pottery, which she thinks of as polished jewels from the earth, incorporate natural found elements, including pieces of driftwood, and delicate washes of color. Her sculptural wall tiles are handmade, carved pieces rich with texture and attention to detail.
McMahon studied political communications and sociology at the City and State Universities of New York. After a career in journalism and broadcast news, she left New York for Florida, where she has worked as a studio artist in Gulfport since.
McMahon is the winner of numerous awards, including first place in ceramics at the Evergreen Art Festival, 2014, and best of show at the Boston Mills Art Festival, 2009. Her work has been exhibited at La Meridiana Gallery, in Italy, and at Villa Royale, in Thailand.
